Mass is the content of material in an object whereas weight is gravity force acting on an object. Although both terms are used as one and same however it is not true. We provide E1 Class Weight, E2 Class Weight, F1 Class Weight, F2 Class Weight, M1 Class Weight, M2 Class Weight, M3 Class Weight Mass And Weight Calibration Services.

Above classes are governed by the tolerance limits defined by international legal metrology Guideline OIML R111-1 and 2. This guideline defines the shape, sizes, dimension and finishes of the mass pieces to be qualified as OIML mass pieces.

In order to calibrate a weight / mass it is essential to have a standard or master weight which is having superior accuracy and uncertainty and comparator or scale of appropriate readability and repeatability.

At CALITRON we calibrate weights / mass using valid procedures based on OIML R111-1 from accuracy Class E1 and coarser covering range of 1 mg to 50kg maximum. E1 class weights are calibrated using subdivision and substitution method to achieve desired results keeping measurement uncertainties to the minimum.

Weighing balance or scale is used for weighing objects in required quantum. Depending the value of commodity various types of scales/balance is selected. Hence it is utmost important to know the indication error of balance by periodical calibration. Weighing balances are classified as Class I, II, III, IIII by OIML R76-1 guideline based on its resolution. Class I is Special class which has highest resolution and hence highest in accuracy terms, whereas Class IIII is coarsest one termed as Ordinary accuracy class.

To calibrate any balance it is utmost important that balance is in stable environmental conditions without any direct air drought or transmitted vibrations. Mass pieces used for calibration shall be selected based on class of balance with appropriate minimum associated uncertainty. Typically all special class balances like Ultra-micro, micro and semi-micro category require E1 class weights to detect the scale error with confidence. Invariably it is misinterpreted that having OIML weights with valid Traceability is adequate for balance calibration which is not TRUE and such incidence may rise to FALSE reporting or FALSE acceptance.

A good analysis for any test in analytical test lab depends on how good is the performance of glassware used. Dispensed volume can affect the results of analysis significantly hence calibration of volumetric devices has important role. Typically volumetric devices are categorized as glassware and piston operated devices like piston pipettes. Further glassware may be contained type like Measuring Cylinders, Beakers, Burettes, Butyrometer and dispensing type like Burette or Pipette. IS standards provide Accuracy of the glassware as Class A or Class B, class A is superior over class B. Similarly for different types of Piston operated devices accuracy criteria is defined by ISO 8655 part 2 in terms of % random error and % systematic error.

Volumetric devices are calibrated by gravimetric method defined by ISO 4787 and ISO 8655 using liquids of known density typically distilled water or even mercury in ceratin cases.

Precision in volume calibration depends on cleanliness of devices, surface conditions, piston stroke lengths, environmental conditions. Although method specified is gravimetric method, it is essential to use weighing balance with appropriate resolution and repeatability depending on range of volumetric device. Larger capacity devices may also be calibrated by volumetric methods however it is rare.

Density is a content of the material in unit volume and measured as g/ml or kg/m3. Density is influenced by the temperature since temperature affects state of material. Some materials change from sold to liquid and vice versa resulting in change in volume and hence the density changes although mass remains same. Material could be in the form of solid or liquid. There are different approaches for density measurements of liquids like using densitometer or density hydrometer or specific gravity hydrometers. There are hydrometers with specific scale units for petroleum products, milk, and alcohol and sugar syrups. Calibration of these types of hydrometers involves determination of errors accurately at certain temperature. Calibration of density of solids is based on Archimedes principle. We provide Calibration Services For Density Hydrometer, Specific Gravity Hydrometer, Brix Hydrometer, Lactometer, Alcoholmeter, Baume Hydrometer, Twaddle Hydrometer.

At Calitron we calibrate all types of Hydrometers by hydrostatic method using suitable weighing balance and associated infrastructure. Hydrometer scale is read using 10x zoom camera to resolve it to 1/10th of actual resolution. Range calibrated is 0.6 g/ml to 2 g/ml.

We calibrate liquids having density from 0.6 g/ml to 1.6 g/ml and Solid material from 1g/ml to 8 g/ml

Viscosity is a measure of resistance offered by liquid to deformation under force. In other words viscosity is frictional resistance offered by liquid to flow. Higher the viscosity higher is resistance to flow e.g compare honey and water. Water is low in viscosity so flows easily compared to honey or syrup. SI units of kinematic viscosity are mm²/s. various types of devices used for viscosity measurement are Flow cup like Ford or Zahn cup, Viscometer and Rotational viscometers.

Flow cups are often used since it is cheap and low in maintenance but at the same time accuracies are low. Capillary viscometer is good for Newtonian fluids and low in maintenance but precise.

In industry where lot of non-Newtonian fluids like paste, paint are used rotational viscometer is preferred due to its accuracy and ease of handling material.

At Calitron we calibrate the viscosity of Unknown oils, Ford / Zahn / Sheen / B4 / B8 Cup, Capillary Viscometer and Rotational Viscometer.

Pressure is expressed as force per unit area. In industry pressure measurement is carried out as one of the functional check for manufactured part or process quality parameters. SI unit for pressure is Pascal, kPa or bar. Depending on application and precision required gauges of varying accuracy are used. It is essential that before calibrating a pressure device i.e pressure gauge or pressure transmitter a test uncertainty ratio is checked. The standard or master pressure instrument used for calibration shall have better uncertainty which is 1/3^rd of accuracy of device calibrated. This is required to accurately detect the errors in device being calibrated.

At Calitron we calibrate pressure measuring devices i.e. Pneumatic and Hydraulic from -10 mbar to 700 bar in gauge pressure mode and 1 bar in absolute meter.

Force by Newton law is measure of mass and acceleration product. When a unit kg mass is accelerated at 1 m/s2 acceleration, it generates force of 1 N. In industry Force measuring devices are used for varying applications, QC checks and in manufacturing processes like assembly lines etc. Force being a vector quantity, it is essential that eccentric or cosine effects be minimized to the extent possible. A good calibration set up is one which ensures axial application of force to the device calibrated. Damages due to eccentric or moment connections will affect the measurement and hence result in inaccurate reporting.

At Calitron we calibrate Uni axial Force machines like UTM, CTM and TTM from 25 N to 500kN. In addition we also calibrate Push Pull meter or Hand Force Gauge from 1 N to 1 kN maximum range.

Torque is a tangential force applied at a point to create axial rotation. Torque or torsion generates angular rotation to the object. Torque tools like wrench, screw drivers, nut runners are common examples of torque generating devices used in Industry. These are used for tightening of screws and bolts.
